In a laser root canal procedure, mechanical removal of tissue or debris is first performed with irrigation and instrumentation, followed by mechanical and chemical irrigation and instrumentation. A parallel light beam is then directed into the root canals. Intense light radiation helps disinfect the root canals by removing all debris and dead tissues and killing germs that are present in the root canal. The pulp chamber of the tooth is then usually reached using a laser drill. The tooth structure from the chamber to the dentinal tubules, leading to the tooth’s centre, is then sterilised using a soft tissue laser. The tooth is then covered after the hollow area has been filled with guttapercha and cement lining.

An in-office bleaching method is laser tooth whitening. Due to the use of a laser and bleaching gel, it differs from other teeth-whitening techniques. A laser is a high-intensity light beam which activates the bleaching agent for better penetration and produces a far superior result.
